I am currently working once again with thought leader, speaker, and author David Meerman Scott and his daughter Reiko on their FANOCRACY project.
Their newly minted term FANOCRACY describes 'fandom,' a word used to describe camaraderie amongst individuals who share a common interest.
As an example, my birthplace of Bradford PA is the home of Zippo lighters, where every couple of years fans assemble to meet, sell, swap, and chat about their Zippo collection. These people are from all walks of life and professions. Zippo lighters provide the catalyst to bring people who may never bump into each other together for face to face interaction and connection.
The Scotts' book, Fanocracy: How to Turn Fans into Customers and Customers into Fans will be released in January. In the meantime, David will be discussing the FANOCRACY Movement in speaking engagements, blog posts, interviews, and social media channels.
