The online publication BostonVoyager describes itself as follows:
"Every neighborhood in the Greater Boston area has its own vibe, style, culture, and history, but what consistently amazes us is not what differentiates the various neighborhoods but rather what they all have in common. From Cambridge to the Quincy (and everywhere in between) we’ve been blown away by how many creative and talented people call Boston home. Check out some of the inspiring stories we’ve discovered throughout the city."
A recent inspirational story included Chris Demakis, co-owner of Mattapoisett's (MA), Town Wharf General Store.
In the write-up, Chris describes his place of business:
"If you visit our general store, you’ll find a broad mix of products from all kinds of specialty food products from small makers across New England and beyond. Our fare includes fine cheeses, cocktail supplies, kitchenware, outdoor gear, toys, chocolates and other sweets, pet supplies, houseware, gifts and of course, penny candy for the kids. We also operate a small coffee counter in the store selling organic coffee drinks and teas."
I've known Chris for many years before and after our working together at PARTNERS+Simons. I was fortunate enough to be hired by Chris to design the store's corporate identity which centers around a whale riding a bicycle.
Please make sure that you read the actual article (linked here). Personally, working with Chris and Vince was a blast. Our final product will always hold a prominent place in my collection of work.
If you are ever in the charming New England town of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, make sure that you stop by the Town Wharf General Store. I am confident that you will find at least one treasure to take home with you! – Doug.
