Creativity: Tightly Secured Within "The Box"

May 29, 2018

Some time ago, I read in Time Magazine that in their opinion, our country's most abundant natural resource is creativity.

It is tough to believe this statement in a world where entertainment consists of recycled 1980s sit-coms, and nearly every movie is either superhero-based, or yet another Star Wars chapter.

Yes, we do live on a planet of heightened sensitivity but come on, let's start taking a few risks and reignite some of America's legendary "outside-the-box thinking!"

During this past weekend, I stumbled upon a clip from Mother of Invention, Frank Zappa. Although speaking about the 1960s, Frank's message applies to today's world of forced focus groups, over-analytic research and dutifully followed playlist.

Zappa discusses the entrepreneurial spirit of the 1960s cigar-chomping record executives.

We are a brilliant society and have every tool imaginable. Let's all work together, open "the box," and allow some new ideas to take root and flourish! – Doug.
