17 years ago and the deafening silence that followed.

Yesterday, I received my annual letter and flag decal from our good friends at Warren Impact. For the past seventeen years, Brad Warren Jr., his team, and Gill Studios have mailed a variation of this old school, non-virtual, snail package to clients, family members, friends of the firm, and those requesting a flag.

For Warren Impact, this is their way of marking each anniversary of the horrific events that took place on September 11, 2001.

I am confident that anyone over the age of four has some memory of that tragic day. I still recall the eerie silence that permeated the air that day and the nervous anticipation as rumors circulated predicting that another shoe was about to drop.

In the days that followed these horrific events, I also recall how people set aside petty differences and bonded together as Americans, proud of where they lived and eager to reach out to help and provide comfort to those struggling.

Today, I am going to place my flag decal in a prominent place where others can observe it. For my piece of mind, I am going to take a day off from all of the divisive and harmful bursts radiating from television, radio, the world wide web and social media.

I wish to recall the silence that filled the atmosphere on the afternoon of September 11, 2001, as well as the days that immediately followed.

Peace.
