Our Zippo Lighter: A Little Bit O Hell in an Itsy Bitsy Box. (#TBT)

The year was 1999. The world was fearing a Y2K technological disaster. There was also a great deal of nervousness about what the next century might bring. EYMER DESIGN saw these events as a tremendous opportunity to stir the pot even more. Of course, the real intent was to attract attention and land more business.

"I was born in raised in Bradford, PA which is the home of Zippo Manufacturing.” states partner, Douglas Eymer. As a tribute to the company and Doug's hometown, classic Zippo lighters were sent to firm friends.

Here is a snippet of the message delivered by miniature poster included in the package:

We at Eymer Design are proud to present to you, the most revolutionary invention of the 20th century! An instrument of enormous worth that will ensure your survival in the 21st century!

The handheld personal incendiary device we like to call: A LITTLE BIT O HELL IN AN ITSY BITSY BOX

Like many of EYMER's unique marketing initiatives, the piece received plenty of attention. "Everyone sends out t-shirts and coffee mugs. We strive to send out pieces that cause heads to turn," says Doug. "Those attracted to our off beat humor, are clients with whom we prefer to work."

Credit for the printed piece also goes to illustrator, Mark S. Fisher and former Eymer Designer, Bruce Macindoe. – Ed Schaedler, public relations specialist
